Hotel insurance for the property and the business inside it

For a hotel owner, a property loss can interrupt room revenue as well as damage the building. We help owners and operators review those connected concerns alongside the guest services, employees and amenities that make each property different.

Your hotel’s operations

The room count is only the beginning

A limited-service hotel and a property with a restaurant, pool and event space need different conversations. Start with the services available to guests, who operates them and whether another business leases space on the property.

We will also ask about the building, roof, protection systems and recent improvements. Ownership and management arrangements matter too, especially when the building owner, operating company and franchise have different insurance responsibilities.

Coverage and recovery

Consider what it would take to reopen

Property coverage, general liability and business income are central review areas for many lodging businesses. The appropriate coverage depends on the operation and the policy. A restaurant, bar, shuttle or other service can create additional questions that should be identified before quotes are compared.

If a covered loss put rooms out of service, consider the time and expense involved in repairing the property and restoring operations. We can help review the business income terms and limits, along with deductibles and the property values used in the proposal.

Your renewal review

Bring the property information and the operating picture together

Send your current policies, renewal proposal, room count, revenue, payroll and loss history. Include the building details and a description of amenities, food or alcohol service, transportation and any planned renovation.

If a lender, franchise or management agreement sets insurance requirements, send those as well. We can use the full picture to review your existing coverage and discuss available alternatives for the property.
